Abstract
The paper on rural inhabiting consists of two parts: a) description of some changes that have taken place in rural inhabiting in Romania by historical regions and b) presentation of changes in the villages studied by the teams coordinated by D. Gusti. CURS resumed the surveys of rural sociology in some villages after about 70 years using, as much as possible, the same indicators. The purpose was to monitor the changes in rural infrastructure and in the Romanian rural environment.
The inhabiting characteristics of the Romanian villages during the three periods: a) between the two world wars, b) the period of collectivisation, c) the post 1989 period, reveal the changes in the manner and conditions of inhabiting.
The enclosed plans and photos of houses and dependencies throughout the historical regions meet the purpose of presenting an as much as real image of the Romanian village of the past decades.
